Hendrick's Gin:
The Gaming Chaise
-
Concept
As a counterpoint to the rise in gaming chairs, the world’s most unusual gin, Hendrick’s, invented an anachronistic alternative designed for lounging, low-tech gaming and conversing with other human beings. Its limited-edition Hendrick’s Gaming Chaise – the world’s longest and least technological gaming chair, and the first created specifically for unplugged play – combined the best features of a bar cart and an ultra-plush couch. It was designed to support a spectrum of non-computerized diversions and encourage escapism through cocktails and board games. Convenience only came in the form of an amplified horn that allows users to call for additional drinks or supplies without ever having to leave the opulence of the chaise, and retractable arms that hold bottles and cards alike to free the hands for imbibing. This whimsical and wondrous spin on the high-tech gaming chair served as the fourth release from the Hendrick’s Department of Not-So Convenient Technology, and was built in partnership with Brooklyn-based Pickett Furniture and Design.
